Design and illustration

Before I wrote code professionally, I studied communication design and worked as a graphic designer. I still design the brands, logos and illustrations for the products I build.

Brand and logos

Logos and identities for products I’ve designed and built.

Earlier versions
Three earlier CosyNums logos: a neon-outlined molcajete in a round badge, a shaded molcajete, and a steaming bowl on a pink diamond
Final
CosyNums logo: a colourful molcajete next to the bold wordmark "Cosy Nums"

CosyNums logo

The whole brand has a neobrutalist feel with diner-inspired touches: thick outlines and bold type. I wanted it to feel playful, to live up to the “Cosy” half of the name.

In earlier versions I played around with a more realistic outline and a noodle bowl. The final logo is meant to look like a molcajete fashioned from neon tube lights.

Earlier versions
Earlier Bibliopile wordmarks: serif capitals with a cat face, a gold blackletter version on a brown book spine, and a serif version on a purple spine with a cat and its tail
Final
Bibliopile logo: three stacked book spines in green, terracotta and grey, with the wordmark and a black cat

Bibliopile logo

Some of my earlier versions used blackletter and dark colours to give the vintage feel of old leather-bound books. Each version of the cat is shaped like the forked end of a hardcover’s ribbon bookmark, and its face (and in one case its tail) is built from punctuation marks.

The final logo shows three books in a stack, a literal “biblio-pile”. It’s also more modern, with brighter colours and cleaner lines.

Timebound app icon: a gold half sun and crescent moon with stars inside a navy airplane-window shape

Timebound

App icon for a time zone tool, shaped like an airplane window. A sun and crescent moon split down the middle show day on one side of the world and night on the other.

Garden table

I drew the line art first, then painted it in Krita in a watercolour style.

Prototypes

Interactive prototypes I designed and built.

Lil’ Buddy

A digital assistant prototype with a glassmorphism style and a focus on accessibility. The avatar has idle, listening, thinking and speaking states, plus keyboard shortcuts and a reduce-motion setting. The chat replies are mocked.
